10K Sled pull? need a lil more power!!!

Hey guys just wonderin, i got third in my last sled pull at a fair with my truck stock except for the DIY intake and straight piped exaust. But i was wondering if the 10K mod would help me out a little bit? or should i go 5.6K I got another pull comin up in another week, I don't have gauges but was wondering if one sled pull would prolly be alright or would the egts get to high? Thanks in advance for your input!!

I wouldnt do a sled pull with a 10k mod without gauges the EGTS can get up there real quick. I would look into to getting gauges and a chip

Pullin the sled isnt going to hurt anything. The temps will get up there pretty quick but it is just the gases that are that hot. The metal parts will take longer to get to the point of melting anything. As far as running down the road then I would definitely get the gauges before doing any other mods including the 10k. As stated above a chip or tuner would be a better way to tune the truck.
