Looking for Best Upgrade combo to achieve the best mpg's
This is my first post as a user on powerstroke forums and i am relatively new to the powerstroke engines. I have owned a 12 valve and 24 valve cummins and with just adding tuner air intakes and fuel plate deletes i was able to achieve up to 24 mpg in some cases. But my powerstroke does not seem to get nearly that same economy my 7.3 has 220k miles and is a 2wd with 3.73 gears. I do not know what kind of mileage im getting due to my fuel gauge giving false readings when i get to the 1/4 tank mark. I started this thread looking for input on what would be the best changes to make for better mileage and what brands of these aftermarket products work the best for the powerstroke. Thank You

also if anyone could help me im looking for a list of mods in the order you install them of how to reach the 400 RWHP and 800 lb/ft mark with my truck. I have an idea of what to do but i would rather hear it from people who have done it before rather than go out on my own since i have only owned my 7.3 for six months. Thank you

well you can do the diy intake, some gauges (egt, boost, trans temp), exhaust, stage 1's, 38r, upgraded hpop (srp1 or t500) valve body, 6.0 trans cooler, good general service with new fluids all around, hutch mod, regulated return or frx. check for any boost or exhaust leaks. oh and tunin, i like beans tunes but swamps, gearhead and tyrant are other tuners i would use

You will never get the milage from a 7.3 as you did from the Cummins.
Calculate what you are getting now, you dont need a fuel gage to do that. It is just gallons and miles traveled. As for the power, bruce did a good job for you there. |
