6637 vs. AFE

Hey all, I am currently using a AFE intake housing with a K&N filter but have just read terrible terrible things about the K&N filters. Should I switch it out? Ive hear you can get surge from the 6637.

I am running a late 99' Powerstroke (emblem on the door)

It can, but a lot of upgraded filters can cause it. I haven't had any problems yet, but if it does start pick you up a wicked wheel. It'll fix the surge (most of the time) and give you a pretty sweet sounding turbo whistle.

Filters don't cause surge. Surge happens at the turbo, not the filter.

Nope. I've had a truck surge with a stock airbox and a Motorcraft air filter.
