03 7.3 - Edge Evolution CTS won't work....

I just got this programmer yesterday and decided to install it today before a long trip tomorrow. i hooked it up as described in the directions, it asks me for the model of the truck, it takes me through the key on/off cycle and then it has me enter the VIN number. After entering the VIN number, it gives this error:

Vehicle Communication Error - Error reading file IDS during VIN write.

it does this every time, about 12 times so far.

Anyone ever had this??

I emailed Edge, they said it does this when there is a chip installed on the PCM.... which there isn't, but i took it out and confirmed anyway.

I have the best luck.... hopefully i can get this resolved quickly after the holidays.

yes, 27 emails later and several updates, they finally have a fix. I would call them or email tech@edgeproducts.com

They will send you a file that you will have to download and update your programmer. i went through several versions with them and they finally got it to work. it takes a long time to download, update, and program your truck. make sure you've got some time on your hands, it isn't a 15 minute process.

You have to contact them. The file will be sent to you through their update program for your tuner. It takes a long time with a fast connection, so i'd plan on having a few hours to run it.

It's worth it though.
