Previous programmer ??

Hi y'all
I bought a 99 F 250SD 7.3. I then borrowed a superchips programmer from my uncle to see what I might be able to gain from it before I buy. When the programmer goes to retrieve the stock file it says that the vehicle is not set to stock settings. Is it possible that the previous owner(s) may have programmed the truck and never set it back to stock? The truck has decent power but you have to really stomp it to get any black smoke at all from it. Is there a way to set the truck back to stock and start over?

Very possible, it just needs reflashed at the dealer is my guess

Black smoke is wasted fuel. Am I missing something?

Its on average $75+ to get it re flashed, but if you bought it from a dealer (any dealer) be sure that they front the bill! They are supposed to sell vehicles in as stock a condition as possible and they will front that bill.
