TS 6 POS chip problems

I've been reading a lot, but not posting much. I have a problem that I can't seem to find an answer for. A friend of mine recently installed the TS 6 pos chip in his '03 F350. Everything seems to work fine except the last two positions, 100 and 140 HP. When he floors it in either one of those positions, the truck will move for about a second or two then his CEL will come on and the engine will go back to idle. After a couple of seconds, the CEL will go out and everything will return to normal. If he doesn't floor it, it will accelerate normally. I don't know much about diesels, but it sounds like something to do with overboosting??? Is there a safety measure of some sort on his truck that will not allow him to overboost in some way?

I'm just kind of shooting in the dark...any help would be greatly appreciated.

He should send it back and have them reburn it.

the only time my CES light comes on is when i floor it, and thats only from over boosting the turbo, the CES light goes out after 1 minute and doesnt cause the truck to run any differently. I dont know about your friends issue, im sure some other guys with more "know how' will be along today to help.

Maybe the HPOP cant keep up or the ICP needs to be cleaned. Call TS Performance and see what they say about it.

Sounds like he's running out of oil. I would check for codes. If the CEL light is coming on that will tell you what the problem is.

Also, does your friend have gauges? A boost gauge would tell you if you are over boosting.

this

this is not an issue with your truck. One of two things is happening. either the prongs on the pcm arent clean enough or the chip needs to be reburned. Both are fairly common.

I forgot to let you guys know what he did. He decided to install a boost relief valve and everything has run perfectly since he got it dialed in. Thanks for the replies.
