The 6637 is too big?

I just swapped my air box for a 6637. I only have one issue. My hood squooshes down on the filter. I've exhausted the search on this problem and even noticed pics of others with a little flat spot on their filter where the hood makes contact. I'm okay with it seeing how the paper element is isn't disturbed all that much.

I thought about cutting the remaining part of the battery tray to gain a extra inch. I feel like I want to be able to return it to stock if I have to. Does anyone actually return their truck to stock? I doubt it. I'll probably end up cutting to make room.

Is anyone running the 6637 alone without cutting and getting it clear of the hood?

I tried rotating mine as well. I noticed the end rubber of the filter rests directly on the plastic from the battery tray where the OEM air box mounted. I'm gonna go mess some more at halftime.

Mine hit only at the end of the filter, when I turned it it angled more downward at the end

I cut all of the battery tray out so there's no "back" where the battery is. There is no division between the filter and the battery. Mine lays on the fender.

Got it. When I rotated the hose this time, I also lifted the filter where it connects to the intake host. This allowed the end to slip inside the OEM airbox mounting plate. There is more hood clearance as you move closer to the center of engine bay. Now I feel much better about it.

I removed all plastic from mine and had no rubbing issues. That filter lasts forever as well, it was a good mod.

I have no intention of returning mine to stock, so I just cut it up.
