Cut Open Coolant Filter

FINALLY changed out my first coolant filter . . . after 30k miles :eek:hnoes:

I didn't have a filter cutter, so I tried cutting off the top letting as many shavings as I can not get in, didn't work. So I took a chisel, chiseled a hole in the side, then took our little air recip saw and cut it off.



I think most of the sediment poured out as I had it on its side so this is what I found inside.





This is also what I found on a rag I had on the table under the filter as it was on it's side as most of the coolant was out. The little that came out came with this:



Filter out of the case.



Filter pleats pulled out for inspection.









Seems like it did a good job.
