Just a quick poll, I already have the AIS intake but no filter. It is about the same to buy a filter as it would to buy a 6637 setup. So what would you run?
Thanks for voting. From what I have found, the 6637 will flow better, but the AIS will filter better and last longer. I just want to see what everyone's opinions are on this.
I have both and the AIS has been on my truck for the last year while the DIY is sitting on a shelf in my garage. I like the sealed box so I don't have to worry about water getting in, and with my stock tune it flows a lot more than my truck can use. If I were going hot-rodding I'd throw the open filter back on, but my truck is just a workhorse/hunting rig/highway cruiser/snow vehicle so it works great for me.:thumb:
AIS---Only draw back in the expensive filter replacement... Just do the ZooDad Mod and place a wire mesh screen over the hole or holes and you will have plenty of cool air flow...
My 01 is used as a daily driver and our Tow Vehicle, so dependabiltiy is a vital factor... I don't need any extra air flow... My 7.3L makes plenty of power for my needs... If I ever do upgrade injectors-turbo-tunes from DP...The AIS can handle easy up to 400hp...
With that said...both filtering systems are top notch...
