Well, my dad owns a 2002 7.3L and hasn't used this chip in over a year. He gave it to me and I'm wondering if it's safe to install in my 2002 7.3L?
Is this an F-5? The pictures on DP-Tuner.com don't really match this chip at all.
It has a 6 position rotary nob but we can't remember what tune is on what position. Is it safe for me to install it tonight and play around with it a little bit?
I don't think it will work unless your dad was running single shots, the chip will need reburnt to work with your OBS injectors. Good news is you can call dp and see what they can pull up on it. Another good thing, is since it has to be re-burnt anyway, you can get whoever you want to burn their tunes on it. Much cheaper than buying a chip outright.
Thanks for the comment. However, I need to update my profile picture. I'm a proud owner of a 2002 7.3L Lariat Beauty. So it is going from 2002 to 2002. My only real concern is we don't know what tune is on what setting. I don't want to blow crap up running the wild 120+ that would put on there somewhere.
Are these things safe to just play around with and figure it out as I go? Never tuned/messed with my trucks at all.
I would send it back to Jody and have him update it. That is an old school chip, I'm sure he has refined his tuning even more. It shouldn't cost you very much..
Not sure if the PCMs are the same. I e-mailed Jody Friday and haven't heard back and was just getting antsy to try it out. I am also concerned that it is an old school looking chip. Maybe I should wait and get it sent back to Jody.
na plug it in ,, do u have gauges/ ur pants will tell u what settings are on each position,,, no worries at all
