Edge Evo on the 7.3 manual trans?
Well,
I'm looking for my tuner for my truck. It currently has a very low-end Hypertech(probably around 40hp tune). I am stuck between the Edge Juice w/ attitude, and the EVO II setup. IT seems the EVO is the obvious way to go, but am i wrong?! It makes more power, comes with what looks like the attitude monitor, and it cheaper?! Can this be true?! PS--->I'm not looking to be Dmax hunting or anything, i'd just like to make enough power to keep up with the other boys on the block, and throw some smoke, in a relatively safe manner. |

I have been doing some reading on these products and it seems to me that the Evo II with monitor is the better way to go. I think many people were lured to the Juice/Attitude set up because of the monitor. The other advantages to the Juice/Attitude is being able to choose power levels on the fly. However in practical terms, you don't really need to choose power levels on the fly. I think it is pretty well known that you can get the best milage on the extreme settings if you can keep your foot out of it.
The only time I really use the channging the program on the fly is when towing. On the Juice/Attitude when you select the "tow" setting it will automatically backdown or cut fuel if your EGT get to high where as on the extreme setting you only get a warning when you finally hit 1300 degrees (or where ever you set it at) no back down. In my mind this is not a big deal because I watch the EGT very close when towing anyway. Many of the people on here will tell you the best way to go is to by a set of "A piller" guages and get a custom tune or chip, and I would agree. I post on here becasue my wife has a 7.3 Excursion and we bought it with the Juice/Attitude already installed. And I got a free Evolution programmer from my brother in law. But if it was my truck and it was stock with no Juice/Attitude and no Evolution, I would not purchase either one and I would get a set of guages and have a custom tune or "flip chip" done by one of the recommended tuner on this site. |

Well,
I do plan to run a two-in-one gauge on the steering column(manual dial) for boost/pyro. That's really all the gauge i want/need. As for the EVO, I wasn't aware that they couldn't change tunes on the fly. that sort of sucks, ahaha. Is the EVO you have the newer style with the attitude monitor? Let me know if you want to get rid of it! |

the evo 2 is the better way to go... EDGE is not gonna make the Juice anymore and is replacing it with the EVO....

I have not heard that but it does not suprise me. Now that the Evolution comes with display they are basically the same at least as far as performance goes, perhaps a slight edge to the Evolution II. In speaking with the Edge tech support the Evolution II program is identical to the original Evolution it just now comes with its own display.
