Water/Meth and NOS tuning.
So who knows there ignition tuning?
Im trying to get a good tune for my truck for the diesel drags. I'm running water/meth at a 40/60 mixture and NOS currently at a 150hp single shot. So water/methanol slows your fuel burn where NOS speeds it up. So with the methanol you would want to advance your timing becuase your burn is slower thus allowing more time for it to burn off. And the opposite with the NOS. You would retard the timing becasue it feed more oxygen to the fuel allowing it to burn quicker. So if i said im gaining around 50 hp from the water and use a 150 hp shot of NOS would i still retard the timing because the NOS power exceeds the Meth power? What are your other mods? What chip are you running? Im not sure exactly what water meth does to timing, but id bet with taht much meth and that much nitrous your head gaskets arent gonna last long unless you have headstuds. With that said, more timing will add even more cylinder pressure than you already have.

Im running the Sniper Tuning software supposed to be good for 100hp and it will allow me to modify just about anything in the ECM. Also running an injector control module which fakes out the injector pressor and is supposed to be good for 60hp or so. I havent dynoed yet so i dont know exact numbers. I know the meth or the NOS will not change the timing but im trying to decide on where to set the timing for these mods for the best performance. Have a slightly bigger turbo than the stock one and no injectors. Yes im aware that my heads are soon going to pop off.

WOW... I bet you are putting down close to 500hp!!! Nice!!! What year truck?

It's a '99 with the 7.3. I doubt that im close to 500hp. My guess is im touching 400hp because my heads havent blown off yet (knock on wood). But you never know. 500hp would be awsome. I just wish i had money to do more.

What turbo are you running? Air intake, exhaust? Are you using a tune that the Sniper came with or did it all yourself? Early '99 or late '99?

I'm running the stock garret turbo off an 01. I have a pre-99 truck but i have upgraded everything to the post 99 stuff. So its got all the bigger tubes and turbo etc. Got 4" straight piped exhaust. Have k&n intake with 4" intake house. Using the sniper 100hp tune as a baseline and then making mods to it myself as i go. So small tweaking in different areas.

Did you change out the HPOP too? What about the injectors?

NO and not yet. I'm not that rich yet and i dont get a crapload of sponser money either. i dont know how some of these people do it.
