I suggest you rebuild yours with quality high performance parts. Get a good triple disc torq converter. As well as a good high performance valve body. Or at least upgrade your stock valvebody with a good performance kit.

Sun Coast Transmission has all the parts you would need.

Main thing is find some one that is good with this tranny and make sure they know what they are doing when they build it.

Do it right the first time... BTS... I dont have one, and I am happy with my tranny, but it cost me four rebuilds with upgraded parts each time for this "local" guy to build one that would stand up to me ($5500 once it was all said and done!!!)... BTS is done right the first time... about $4000 for the BTS

If you never plan on exceeding stock power levels, stay with the stocker till it goes out.

Then depending upon your use of the truck (daily driver/hauler/worker/hwy driver etc...) will determine what you want to do. Tell us more about the truck.

Yes, BTS is the best, but may not be for everyone.

The problem with waiting until it dies is then you are SOL until you can get it fixed... Planing is everything!!!

BD also makes a great trans for all the Ford applications .Again being pricey might be a concern, but the warranty is superior .BD warranties not just parts replacement but labor, fluilds ,shipping and handleing.
Being cheap is definately not always the best way to go.

BTS
Ask for Brian.
870-422-FORD
Lead Hill, Arkansas

Tell them Warren sent you.
I live couple miles from there shop.

The trans. that you would purchase is as stated above about 4k. But its the same trans they put in 1000 hp pulling trucks. Done right the first time.
Great customer service. They know Ford Diesels.
They also have a dyno. Brians son has a 11sec truck without NOS.

I have one in my truck with NO problems at all. I pull 23k all the time.
