Exhaust housing question
I was looking at a exhaust housing out of a van turbo that is a 1.15 housing. I currently have stage 1's and PHP tunning. I am not experiencing surge at this point in time, but I hear that is luck of the draw. So my question is will this housing cure surge or do I need a ww? Would I need to get my chip retuned if I did I got this housing? What real gains could I see from doing this? I tried searching and read threads for over an hour and couldn't really find answers so I appreciate the insight.

The 1.15 exhaust housing will not do anything to cure surge. The ported compressor housing is what will cure surge. The bigger exhaust housing will keep EGT's down and your turbo spool a little slower. The ported compressor housing allows air to escape back through the intake to prevent the turbo shaft from stalling/surging. Some say the WW helps some say it doesn't.
If you're not getting any surge right now, I would leave it alone.

That's the information I was looking for. Thank you very much.

1.15 housing will help cure surge. It will change the efficiency map from stock. Any surge would occur at a different load/rpm. Just my 2 cents.
