Chip/Tuner?

Hey all,

I'm looking into getting a custom tuned chip and have a few questions. First let me say at this time all I'm concerned with is more mpgs. I am new to diesel and I'm not seeing the economy out of my truck I thought I would. My truck is my DD and I don't plan to do a lot of towing. The TW or PHP chips seem right up my alley, but the question is, for the econ or daily tunes, how much mpg increase does everyone see? 1-2mpg or more?

i would say with intake, exhaust and a custom tuned chip you will generally only see about a 1-2mpg increase...

I would say, don't buy aftermarket programming specifically for an increase in mileage. It's a sure-fire way to be disappointed.

I don't think I would buy it and only put the economy tune on it. I would definitely like to make it worth it and add a few other tunes, but was curious as to what the average gain is.

When I was reading the forum at PHP members were saying that with the 80 or 65 DD tune, keeping your foot out of it, they have been seeing 3-4 mpg. I did stage 1 single shots, and PHP tuning. Computer will get here tomorrow so I will report back with what I see. The gryphon that they have may be a good option cause you could get your gauges, and tuner all in one. I had an edge juice with attitude for a while and liked it, but really wanted to go with the custom tunes.
