Getting a DP-Tuner
Hey ya'll
Im gettin an f-5 chip and i was wondering what tunes you run and what you like and dont like. Im gonna do a high idle, an Econo tune, a high horsepower tune and probably the 140 as a smoke tune. also i dont do a whole lot heavy towing. the most i would tow is my buddies mustang or my ford 2n. Maybe the lope just for the sound but i could probably do the same with a resistor mod. Let me know. Thanks guys. you can see what i have on my truck in my sig and ill probably get gauges too. I would go with a TS type chip and have some options for tunes... But thats just my opinion...

I'd pass on the 140 and get something like 100 or 120. They'd probably make more power and will smoke enough for you if you like that sort of thing. I have 140 and never use it.

and I wouldn't do the 10k mod along with a chip, not worth it. and worse MPG.

i would recommend the 60hp towing. i just put one in a customers truck he had the high idle,60 hp econo,60 hp towing and 120 hp perf and loves it. i got a 40,60,80 towing in one truck along with high idle, 60 hp econo and 100 and love it. everybody has there own likes and dislikes on tunes. all ive ever had are dp's and dont have one complaint. also highly recommend gettin egt and trans temp gauges.

x2 on a tow tune, even for light towing. An EGT gauge will tell you when your pistons are about to melt. That's a good thing to know. I have several DP tunes (see sig) on the F5 I mostly run in 80e with occasional 120r, unless towing. The decel is awesome for towing, it's like an engine brake. Drive thru is kinda useless for me; only works at idle and the Hutch/Harpoon mods will quiet the engine more anyway.
You're gonna love your truck with the DP tunes.

ive had my f5 for over a year
i bought stock, 60hp tow, 60hp econ, 80hp econ, 120 race, and 140 smoke I use 80hp economy tune 99% of the time, its got plenty of power, fuel efficient, and you can tow up to 13k safely in the tune! That other 1% of the time, im in 140 smoke tune......its just fun! They have a few new tunes i want to try out, the valet tune, the "quiet" or drive thru mode tune, and the exhaust brake to me, stock is WORTHLESS, and as far as tow tunes go, my 80hp tune isnt a tow tune but you can tow up to 13k so if you get a tow tune get a HEAVY one |

Last I checked they didn't recommend ANY towing in the econ tunes...

i talked to sinnister diesel and they said towing was fine under 13k, usually i only tow a pair of jet skis, pontoon boat, and occasionally pull someout out in the tune
