4 with muffler or without

hey guys i got a 2000 f250 7.3 etc. I got the 4'' magnaflow turbo back system with a muffler on it. if i straight pipe the system how much louder is it? also will that make the drone less or more?

It will make the drone worse. I run a straight-through muffler on mine.

I have a silverline 4" turboback. Installed all of it went for a ride and took the muffler off and straight piped it. Its not really loud in the truck and you can really hear the turbo whistle

Black harley lts w/5k hids , blacked out tail lights w/leds,front & rear maghytec diff covers filled w/amsoil, 3" level kit w/ 3" rear block and 5100 bilsteins. 20" novakanes on 35 toyo mt's. kenwood touch screen w/amped kenwood door speakers w/ jl 10w3 subs, optima batts,ipr egr delete,5" sinister stainless exhaust,livewire ts w/egt probe,roof rack removed,mac air intake, blue spring mod, sinister clnt filter,clnt flush & filled w/elc

To do- make custom air box

i just put a 4" turbo back mbrp on mine straight piped and i love it

99 7.3, 6" stacks, 37x13.5 km2s, ev boost, trans temp and egt gauges, 6637 intake, tw tunes, cnc fab 4 line fuel feed kit, hpx, boost fooler, john woods valve body, triple disc billet tq conv, swamps idm, MB hoop, comp cams 910-16 valve springs .030 shims, smith brothers pushrods and PIS 250/200's, PMF stage 2 gusseted trac bars, 4" icon lift

I personally think that quick revs sound like S**T on a straight pipe, but screaming down the road is nice.

3" DP to 5" side dump straight pipe here. I really like the raw sound of the straight pipe but it's a lot different than the deeper toned rumble of a hiflow muffler. Either way is cool and I don't think the straight pipe is really any louder, just a way different sound. I don't find the drone bad at all. My CAI (afe II) makes WAYYYYYYYYYYYYY more drone and cab noise than the pipe.

Which one sounds better?

The straight piped trucks sound raspy and rough.

That's a straight piped IDI vs a muffled 6.0 :

Seth your truck wont sound remotely close to either one of those (muffled or piped for that matter) and comparing the sound of an IDI to a 6.0 is like comparing apples to oranges. The 7.3 DI PSD is somewhere between those sounds. I wouldn't base my decision on that video one bit.
