Factoid on #8 Injector
I just talked to my Ford Mech. And he told me that the #8 injector is a differant part # then 1-7 injectors. Apparently becuz its the last in the line. Ford made it pump more then the rest (1-7). He said some people when they replace all there injectors they replace them all with the #8. Which he says youll pu about an additional 15hp. Interesting info for me anyways...

Yup its a long pull or some thing. You dont need it if you have a regulated return

I'm not so sure about that one, I was parts manager at a Ford dealer for ten years and never heard that one before. when we replaced injectors we installed 8 of the same part#

Hold a little bit more fuel ...............spend 130 on a riff raff regulated return and never worry about #8 being starved for fuel...
the only injector I ever had truely fail was 8 it cuased a knock that sounded like a lower main bearing was going scared me to death! |

my obs had all 8 injectors with the same part number. but they were aftermarket.

its called a long lead injector. They put the injector in there to try and cure the fuel cackle thats commonly associated with the dead head fuel system. put on a reg return and no need for the different injector.

The #8 AE/LongLead fixed some trucks but had/has no affect on other trucks.
The internal difference from the normal AD is so minor, it injects maybe 1 cc more at WOT which hardly equates to 15 hp. There is no practical reason to put 8 AE injectors in, there is essentially no difference in power. |
