Early 99 PCM Swap

I have an early 99, that im replacing with a 01-02 7.3, I am wanting to replace the pcm with a pmt1 or pmt2...

Is this a direct plug and play swap?

I have been doing some research but can not find a definate answer...

Does anyone know where to get one, for cheap?

Is there any benefits from swapping pcms, or do the custom tuners have comparable results with all box codes?

i am probably going to do this also..... for me it is a better running and shifting truck with a little more power to boot. i checked car-parts.com and the cheapest, without having to call, is $100. no its not hot tunes or anything, but it is easier to spend $100.00 for a better running truck compared to $500. just like putting the walker btm on, $55 compared to $350+ on exhaust.....

there are more tuning options available for the 00+ model years, plus it's alittle easier to make the custom tunes. with no programmer u will notice a slightly better running truck with just the computer swap. i have an early 99 i run a pmt2 computer in it out of an 01
