talk to my diesel guy today about getting a custome tunes for my 01 7.3 excursion. He told me i would need to find a four digit code on on the inside of the firewall with all of the electrical wiring. found a piece of white/clear tape wraping all of the wireharnesses together that says U137. he said it would prob have a letter or two in the four digits. is this the right number im lookin for? thanks!

The number is on a sticker on the PCM. This is located inside the engine compartment below and to the right of the brake cylinder. It will have a rectangular wire harness held on by one 10 mm bolt. Remove the bolt and harness and you may be able to read the number with a mirror. It is normally covered by the harness. On mine the PCM sat in too deep to see it clearly and I had to go inside the cab, down by the e-brake, and remove the PCM entirely. Search for directions to remove the PCM at fine vendors like Diesel Manor, DP Tuner, etc. Good Luck!

my truck had the sticker on the small black plastic cover that goes right over where the chip plugs in,

remove 2, 7 or 8mm bolts from behind the ebrake and you should be able to slide the plastic housing out from over the computer and on the end nearest the ebrake will be an oval plastic cover and that's where my sticker was located - PMT1
