Finding an Ignition wire

I am looking for an ignition wire for my guages. In diesel manors pictures he talks about a round plug with a red wire/yellow trace.

I dont have that plug, but i do have a white rectangle plug with the same described wire. The wires from the plug do run up in to the column though.
And in his write up for the 6.0 is the same wire also. I just dont want to screw it up.
