exhaust leak
anyone had any problems with exhaust leak at the back of the manifolds where they bolt on,just went on vacation to myrtle beach towing 5th wheel and leak started. dealer down there said I need to replace manifolds, turbo, doughnuts and I cant remember what else,I know their estimate was over $3,000 dollars. I was wondering if anyone has the Banks powerpack sys. and what they think of it. If I am gonna put that much into fixing exhaust I thought that might be better way to go?

All you should need is new bolts then. Possibly new exhaust manifold(s) and possibly new uppipes. Def. not a turbo though

this is getting real old,my truck has now been at the local Ford diesel dealer one week today and they still have not even brought it in the garage yet. I will give them today to get it in or I will pick it up tomorrow and either try and remove broken bolts myself or take somewhere else.

Turbo has nothing to do with it.
As far as the Banks - its a decent system - but there are better systems out there like SCT with custom tunes. I did Banks for the last 40,000 miles and honestly had no problems with it until just lately when it fell on its face during a long tow. Now it wont function at all. Sucks because I got used to the extra power and mileage and now I'm back to stock. If I knew then what I know now - for the same money as the Banks - I would have gotten the SCT with custom tunes. If you go with a tuner though - get gauges for the engine. EGT, ECT (water temp gauge for coolant), and EOT. Regardless of what tuner you get - you will need these monitored unless the tuner includes a monitering system. |

what a coincedence,I went to dealer with all intentions of bringing my truck home to work on it myself and it was miraculously done.
