Cummins eater

I have a 2000 Ford Superduty 7.3, So far I have TS 6 position switch, mbrp dual exhaust, and afe stage 2 intake. Here's a couple of questions.....

I would like to upgrade the turbo. I have been looking at the Garret ball bearing turbo I have also looked at possibly getting a x-wheel and/or ported shroud. I want less turbo lag and for it to sound like a jet engine. Any suggestions?

Also any suggestions about "stacking"? I was looking at edge Juice.

The biggest thing is I have a buddy with a 03 Cummins that screams, I need to give him a run for his money.

Good to have you! The TS chip is amazing. My dad has the Garret Turbo in his 2000 7.3L, BIG difference. The thing whistles all the time, sounds like a big rig and keeps you company on long drives. As far as stacking, it might be a good idea to talk to Edge and see if the juice would mess with the TS Chip.

Do you have the 140HP mode on your TS chip? If your truck is like ours, it doesnt even know what to do with all the fuel and just makes a lot of black smoke. I'll bet, if you can figure out what mods you need to do for the TS chip to perform to its full potential, you would be doing awesome without the Edge Juice. Maybe you need bigger injectors. Maybe calling TS would be a good idea.

I would love to see a 7.3L beat a new Dodge. Keep it up and keep us updated.

dodge for dinner

My 7.3 outran my buddy's 03 ram consistently until he got bully dog's outlook....now we're even...but I weigh quite a bit more and have 35's compared to his stock meats.

Cool stacking

I realy don't know about stacking the edge with the TS. I do know that pushing that much fuel thru there makes to much heat. The big turbo is what you need to make more HP without all the heat. Years ago I used to turn all my heavyhaul trucks up. I had to stop that because of engine failure. I found out that it was more of a driver failure. When the EGT's get up there you need to find a lower gear. The good people at Caterpillar told me about putting a bigger turbo on the trucks. I drove the first one and found it to be nothing short of amazing. Big HP and lower EGT's. The factory turbo on the 7.3 is not a very good match. The compressor wheel and housing are not matched very well. You can change the wheel, then the housing, then the drive wheel and housing. After its all said and done you can save yourself the anguish of tearing your turbo down and buy a proven winner.

The positions on the switch are 0, 50, 75, 100, 140, and high idle.

I have not ran the quarter mile yet. The diesel drags are coming this month. So the shoot out will be there.

I guess I 'm going to have to buy the turbo, I knew when I bought the truck that was going to have to be changed. I'm just curious to hear any thing about the garret turbo if its worth the money

The Garret is worth the money in my opinion. I dont know about the other brands and if they are better. We are very happy with the garret however. Our truck would be pathetic without it.

Big Turbo

Watch Out For The Big Turbos. Too Big And It Will Be Like Wating For The Bus. Wondering When The Turbo Will Spool Up. Try A Ats Varriable Turbo. Alittle Pricey But Well Worth It. After That You Need To Get 80 Hp Injectors And A Custom Chip Burnt For All The Mods So You Don't Burn It Down.

Cool Turbo's

Hey Lem, I am haveing a hard time convinceing my wife that "WE" really need this. She likes the 8" lift and 37" rubber. I think she even likes the big exhaust sound. The engine mods to this point I know she likes but won't admit it. But almost 2 grand for a turbo is going to be a hard sell. Like I said, pieceing up is costy and the results are marginal. Even the big wolf from Bully Dog is marginal. A turbo on bushings is just that. It will not perform like the bearings.
