Methanol/water injection...
So I installed the AEM kit with a 5gal res. everything is working fine, no leaks, sprays great, no clogs. I have a 550ml nozzle in each side of the intake Y pipe.
my problem is that running straight water or a mix of methanol I still see NO decrease in exhaust temps. Does anyone have any experience with it? Am I spraying too little?

I havn't finished mine yet and I don't do well with metric's either. Is the kit supposed to work with this size engine? Or are you on your own. Diesel is funny, it's hard to lean out and you can put bit of water in also. I'd play with jet size's till she coughed a little.

How is your kit set to deliver the mix (and is it actually delivering it)? Try a larger jet.

what boost is it turning on at?

AEM claims in the instructions that the kit using 2 of the 550ml/min nozzles will be sufficient for a diesel engine producing 450hp. they also have a chart for gas engines, so not completely in the dark with the diesel info.
Pulled the nozzles and they are spraying, even had the system spray at an idle after I ran the truck hard to see if it would help decrease the EGTs faster, but no luck. all I was able to get was a slight black haze out of the exhaust. System turns on at 7psi and goes 100% at 15psi. the kit came with a progressive controller so it gradually increases the flow. I am thinking about just having it go 100% at 8psi and skip the gradual increase. To the guys reading this that have a methanol kit installed what flow rate are you pushing and what PSI does it come on at? |

I'll tell you what I did. I ran a 14gph nozzle, a shurflo pump, and a windshield washer reservoir, along with a hobbs switch. I set the switch to turn the pump on at 10psi. To test the system I ran enough line that I could place it under the windshield wiper, and watch the boost gauge against the time the pump sprayed to ensure it was at the setting I wanted, and that it was indeed working. If the hose sprayed water all over my windshield at 10psi I knew it was ok. The results were EGT's not climbing as fast, and not peaking as high. This is most noticeable with a trailer.

try bringing the max flow pressure down slowly and see how that helps, with my setup 238cc w/ 200% tips, i have it on at 5psi and max at 10psi with a steep curve, it will slow the egt's but they will still climb...
