Tires

For anyone that has ran their truck in the 1/4, serious racer types. What tire is everyone running. I want to switch out my load range E's from my dually to an H rated suv type tire. I don't haul anything anymore, and don't plan to. I think that the load range E's I have are too hard and don't offer any good traction for take off. My opinion.

If it were my truck I'd have Stocton Wheel build me some custom 16x12 or 16x14 for the rear of the truck and then find some slicks or cheater slicks to fit the rims. Or you could put some Nitto radial drag tires. A real good freind of mine has them on his 5.0 mustang and they hook up real good.

You know I've thought of that, I only have to find a rim with a dead center offset, or have them built. I'll look into that, but for the meantime there has to be a way. NADP's dodge dually is two wheel drive and he runs 12.2's with his. Maybe I'll emaill them to see how they hook up.

I checked into thos Nitto tires, they make some 16 inch tires but I think they'd be a little to low-profile for the dually.

That just you have to lower it. Besides if you lower it it will help on the wind resistance.

I don't want to have to do that right now. I know DHRA rules state that after you drop below certain times that the truck can only be a certain height. But for now I want it to look as stock as possible. By the way, I could be heading your way in 2-3 weeks. I'll keep you posted.

So youre finally coming down huh? I know you're business is taking off so I guess I'll cut you some slack. You know the next thing youre gonna have to do is get a four link installed in the rear end right?? That way you will be able to transfer all that power to the ground. I know you got four tires but that'll only provide so much traction. I cant wait to see what youre truck will run, I also cant wait to see youre truck when you finally get down to the 13's, maybe faster.

I know I can't wait until its that fast either. But you know, four tires in the rear are worse than two. The dually trucks have a much worse time finding traction off road. I've had that truck stuck on more job sites then anything. And the same goes for the road, traction is not there. And as far as getting into the 13's, it might be here soon. I've been emailing back and forth to David Lott about how to get my truck going,, since he has the fastest 7.3. I think he's trying to see how much I can spend at a time. Hopefully he agrees, I'd love to pick his brain and figure out how to make this truck go. And I plan on using his shop/store to make my purchases for the most. He sells everything he uses, from what I can tell. But back to getting over to Moroso, I need rear tires bad (gee, I wonder why?) so as soon as they're on I'm heading that way. I'll keep you posted.
