well the local truck pull is coming up in about a month, my buddy is taking his 09 dmax, he's got and edge chip, dpf delete exhaust and intake, he wants me to go, but i don't want to embarrass myself, would like to give it a shot, what do i need to keep up with him? i've got 4" turbo back, cold air, ts 6-position chip, and gtp38r turbo, thanks for the help guys
Well there enlies the problem lol... You will "break the bank" trying to hang with a tuned dmax in our trucks.
But since you asked for a sled pull setup, I would recommend
built tranny - 4500
hybrid injectors - 2500
fuel - 1000 (give or take a bit)
oil (optional) but - 600 (Adrenaline)
custom tuning - 500
traction bars - 800
yea he has a 09 truck tell him if you had a 09 6.4 you would kick his *** so if I was you just pass you need alot more to run with him just tell him your truck will still be running in 10 years when his is in the D max -junkyard lol
If he doesn't have tie-rod sleeves at the very least, you've already got him. You do have weight and a solid front end in your favor. He has more hp but it may be useless if he isn't set up right. I would enter and do your best. You won't be disappointed, the 7.3's are heavy and lug like a son of a gun!
I still haven't snuck a peak to see if I got a lucky batch with the forged. I have a fairly late built 01 which leads me to think I'll be seeing PMRs. Ah well, I don't plan on doing the truck out. Chip should do me good.
As for the sled pull, might as well just go and have some fun. Check out all the trucks. And like everyone else said, you've already got traction in your favor with the heavy 7.3
is it worth it to put all that money into the 7.3? its a great motor, but arent ther newer powerstrokes infintaly more tunable? i'm not pickin, just a honest question.
personally i would get injectors ull be spending like 1600 but **** ull put on a show
