Hey does anyone have a write up on installing a hpop. And was told from a ford mech. That U need a special tool to do it is that true. As i have alot of snap on tools but don't see a point to spend like 800 on a tool just to use once.
just read the instructions..you need no special tools. just modify a panel popper to get the hpop lines off, other then that its self explanatory it looks like..
Lets see if I can remember this... here is something to get you started...
-Drain oil out of HPOP reservoir
-Drain fuel out of fuel bowl
-Loosen up and remove fuel lines off fuel bowl
-Lossen up HPOP reservoir bolts
-Unplug sensors in HPOP and fuel bowl
-Remove fuel bowl and HPOP reservoir all together
-remove access panel for the HPOP gear. (you don't need to remove the line off the water pump, just get the right adapters for your socket)
-Loosen HPOP gear bolt and washer (Use two people, one with a socket on the main drive pulley so the motor won't turn over)
-You can leave gear sitting in front cover
-Remove oil lines off HPOP (You can pop the lines off or unthread them)
-Remove IPR plug
-Unbolt the two mounting bolts on the HPOP
When you reinstall the HPOP, MAKE SURE YOU TORQUE it down right to factor settings. It is real easy to strip out the front cover. Replace your HPOP gasket while you are there. Don't worry about the reservoir gasket...
Fill everything with oil... cycle the key a few times, make sure everything is full of fuel. It should take a couple good 30 second intervals with the starter.
Yup what every one said you can just unscrew the fittings out of the HPOP. You have to do this anyway to put them on the new pump so might as well do it all at once.
What he said ^^^ :hehe::hehe:
