New to a 7.3 a few questions about upgrades

Hello all, i just recently purchased a 2002 f250, 7.3, crew cab lariat with only 52,000 miles.

Im new to diesel tuning, and as of now i am building my own fiberglass gauge pod (as i dont like any of the ones avalible for purchase) transtemp, egt, and boost.

I just put on a mbrp 4" turbo back exaust, I want to chip or get a programer.... im unsure what the advantages/disadvantages are to either, The sct tuner looks like youre just stuck with the 3 tunes on it... But the youtube guy on powerstroke help.com says that chips are bad. Im not sure if he really knows what hes talking about.

what are some easy quick mods that i can do to get a little extra hp? i occasionally use the truck to tow my 35' boat, other than that i dont do much towing, however when i go back to PA it will definately be used as a plow truck, so i want to get the HP and torque upgrades. thanks....

You may be new, but at least you've already learned this!!!! If I were you, I'd stick with some custom tunes from Tony Wildman or Power Hungry Performance. I like the shift on the fly chips personally. Not a fan of waiting...

I am impressed I am the first to respond, but I bought an edge with attitude for the time being and saving up for my PowerHungryPerformance chip from Bill. I am sure a million will post with others, but bill was the first I emailed and had a great response and excellent customer service so when the chip comes in the gauge duties will be handed to the attitude monitor.

Uh... you stole that truck! haha. The price depends on how many tunes you want, but the *best* value is the FU chip... which includes all of the tunes @ $495. Power Hungry Performance - Available Products

You're also going to need a full set of gauges.

That powerstrokehelp guy is a goob.

Go with a 6 pos. chip from either Beans, BTS, Diesel Innovations, PHP, Swamps, Tony Wildman, Matt@Gearhead Automotive.

If you go with any of them you will not be dissappointed. Personally Id go with DI or PHP.
