There are a couple of mods you can do. I personally have the Banks bighead wastegate actuator. The stock actuator has a weak spring that allows the gate to open prematurely. This robs your turbo of boost so you loose power. The Banks Bighead has a much stronger spring, thus allowing your turbo to spool up much more quickly and effectively. Combine this with a WW and you'll notice some minor gains. I also think fuel efficiency is helped but I'm not sure how much.

Depends I suppose, but you could remove the red air line to the stock wastegate. That will hold the wastegate closed longer for building boost quicker. Make sure you plug the red line. I just put it over the clamp bolt on my intercooler.
