SCT Livewire EGT?

Ok.....so Im gonna sell my Edge Juice w/attitude to my buddy so I can buy a SCT livewire. I hear nothing but good things about these things. Im guessing everyone is gonna say "GOOD cuz Edge SUCKS" I know I know, but my question is from what I read I see that the SCT does not come with a egt in all cases. Is my edge EGT compatable with the SCT or do I have to go buy the extra $100+ SCT EGT kit??

Anybody else have any pointers for the livewire? I dont "race" the truck or pull huge loads with it I just daily drive it mostly. Im not looking to go crazy and blow the tranny or beat up the truck. I just like the idea of custom tunes that I can update via a USB cable, and I love my guages on the Edge, so the SCT livewire looks like a winner for me. just looking for some feedback on 7.3 owners with the livewire. Thanks guys!

The edge egt will not work, you will have to buy the Livewire thermocouple but, I haven't heard of to many people liking the Livewire. If you want digital gauges check out the Edge Insight. Thats what im running and love it. Also, since you have a 7.3l I would check out a custom tuned chip. The livewire and x3 are best on a 6.0l.

I never cared for the switch chips. I installed a TS in a friends truck and it pulls hard but I just dont like the switch thing. I dont change on the fly too much with my edge anyways. It usually stays on economy 99% of the time. The only reason Im ditching the edge is it has no trans tuning at all and I have it sold for a decent price and have a line on the livewire for an extra $100. So it seems like a better deal for what I need.

your going to ahve to buy the EGT kit.... are you 100% set on a livewire. i like the X3 with regular gauges better or the edge insight... im not a big fan of all in 1 units

edit: i didnt even realize you had a 7.3L... i wouldnt go the SCT route for a 7.3L.. best way to go is a custom tuned chip like a TW, php or Dp and a set of gauges... the insight wont work on a 7.3L

Im 99% on the livewire. I DO like the all in one setup. The only gauge I have besides the attitude monitor (probly not accurate) in my truck is my LED trans temp guage (which has never been above 150 LOL) I plan on getting a custom performance tune for the livewire just to give it a shot because everyone says how much better the custom tunes are.

ok.... now all the reading you have read is about the 6.0L tuning... not the 7.3L.... its very very rare that someone gets a SCT for a 7.3L...

some of the livewire features will not work on a 7.3L... my suggestion is still a custom tuned chip with a set of regular gauges.... it will be a far better setup over a livewire...

Nope. Thats for the 7.3 straight from the PDF owners manual of the SCT 9600. It says
"7.3 trucks - Economy, street, High performance, towing, TC Lock, Speed limiter, Shift points up/down, Shift firmness, idle drive/neautral, rev limiter."

The 6.0 has Engine breaking, more trans options, cooling fans ect.

I would LOVE to shut my speed limiter off if I do race one of my buddys and the TC lock would be nice.

i meant most of the good things you have heard about the SCT are about 6.0L owners... but thats fine.... if you want a SCT for a 7.3L i cant stop you... Eric at innovative makes some nice tunes for the 7.3L from what i hear... but its been years since i have heard of anyone with a 7.3L running a custom tuned SCT on there truck..

I hear ya, I know the edge my buddy has in his 6.0 has 10X the options mine does in the 7.3. The 6.0 just has newer technology with more options to be changed.

I didnt hear anyone say the livewire would "totally suck for the 7.3" most just say its rare someone has it in a 7.3. I do hear the widespread hatered for the edge in the 7.3 tho LOL. It seems like I can do a $100 upgrade from the edge to the livewire that I found for sale local. So thats a good deal IMO.
