Is there a certain reason why my 1st-2nd shift is very hard and jerky? Every other shift is smooth as butter. Would a VB help? Tranny was just rebuilt less than 10k ago. Mechanic said it was a HD version, it does hold power decent ( just a 2.2k and banks chip, we'll see with custom tunes when I get them) but that first shift is rough, is this normal for beefed up trannys?
Also, how do I know when my TC is locked? Is it looked up to OD or only in OD? Around 55mph if I hit the pedal truck seems to stall then RPMS jump up and I'm gone, is this the TC locking? I can't afford a BTS but I would like to have a trustworthy transmission, what's a good way to beef up a stock rebuild? TC,VB,6.0 cooler? What brands? Thanks for any help guys just tryin to gain more knowledge! |

6.0 coolers are i believe almost 3 times bigger then the stock 7.3 cooler. that will be a good start.
as for the problem. what to you mean jerky? like just slams into gear. or actually jerky as in grabs and releases several times? if that makes sense |

Yes sir, slams into gear. Kinda like a slight stall then it grabs and jumps forward. All other gears shift flawlessly

Has alot to do with the tuner imo, once I had my tw reburned the 2nd time then everything was all good.

I'm quite sure it is. I'd have custom tunes by now if I didn't just have to redo my whole front end.

Mine does the same thing.I have my line pressure jacked up also.Without the tuner,it has a very firm snap too.We also drilled a few passages for better distribution.BTW..I have stock VB(drilled of course) and transgo tugger shift kit..Billet Triple Disk converter.
