What does it take to "hang"?

What's up fellas, what all would it take to hang with the "average" nodded dodges? (chip, intake, exhaust)

up here in college station there's alot of guys runnin dodges with, based on my knowledge from this site and just general knowledge of diesels, just mild mods...yet they blow my doors off!

What would be the safest and cheapest way (I'm in college) to beat these guys or hang with them at least? I had plans to get a custom chip from matt but my front end decided to sh!t out $1500 in parts so I am still running stock in that area (2.2k on a switch and banks chip) will custom tunes and mild tranny mods provide enough to hang with most or I'm I lookin at more than that?

Thanks

I will say custom tunes will be a great start and I have no problem with runnig down the local modded 12valves but the 24 valves and common rail 5.9 are alot faster...injectors and turbo should be in your future if you want to "hang"

Yes sir 38r and some nice hybrids are going in one day when the $$ gets right.

I think custom tunes, a good TC, and a VB will hold up well to light modded cummins

They don't, stock.... I like the ford truck better than the dodge in some regards. I like our trannies better too. Engine wise I wish I had a cummins. If I could have a ford truck, allison trans and a cummins I would be in heaven.
