I really like Fords but the Cummins is the better motor. I would love a Ford with a cummins. I think the Torq-Shift tranny is just as good as the Allison in my opinion.

But why aren't the Powerstrokes as fast?

I would think you should be able to hang with or beat the 2nd gens but the 3rd gens are a different story. My buddys 7.3 with an edge is about even with me and i havent raced my other buddy yet with the TS but im pretty positive he would beat me hands down. I'll probably find out how badly with in a couple weeks. As of yet though Ive spent $0 for engine performance but a set of $300 injectors and i win again.

dodges are alittle lighter...theres alot of varients tho with what program there running..I raced a 24valve with a edgo comp and got beat while ive raced an 05 common rail with a bullydog power pup and we whent back and forth..both trucks were on stock tires and im running 35s so who knows..ived raced two 12 valves with injectors (marine 390s?) and larger turbos and beat them to 100..cummins do spool slower

I would watch those boys, I saw a couple of them at the dyno's in buda last year and they had more under the hood than they like to tell about

ya 12v can either be fast or complete dogs(usually the latter) depending on if the owner knows how to tune them or not. A correctly tuned one will run but it takes a while to know how to do it.

I'd rather have the Ford itself.
Although the Cummins does rock.
However, in recent years the Allison transmissions have been having some issues about going into "Limp Mode". I have a buddy that has "limped" home 12 times...talk about getting tired of his new Chevy.
He took it back to the dealer every time who told him that it's a common thing with the Allison's. The transmission is only built to withstand a certain amount of horsepower, once it goes over that, the tranny on has to slip once and it will go into "limp mode". That means riding at "super low speeds."

Hmmm, never heard of the limp mode. Doesn't sound like fun. I like my 7.3 and i'll be holding on to it for at least another 2 years.
