short or long block swap
Since my engine has the PMR's I was wondering if I could swap in another year short or even long block asembly?
Also, not sure if it is true but I have heard that swapping a pre 99 long block gets you forged rods and higher compression? |

You can swap in pretty much any year engine you want. You may need to cross some of your sensors over to the new engine but that's about it. I believe it was mid year '00 when they went to the PMRs so anything before that you'll get forged rods. Compression is the same across the board though. 17.5:1 IIRC.

So basicly any 7.3 priot to 2000 would be just fine.
