short or long block swap

Since my engine has the PMR's I was wondering if I could swap in another year short or even long block asembly?

Also, not sure if it is true but I have heard that swapping a pre 99 long block gets you forged rods and higher compression?

You can swap in pretty much any year engine you want. You may need to cross some of your sensors over to the new engine but that's about it. I believe it was mid year '00 when they went to the PMRs so anything before that you'll get forged rods. Compression is the same across the board though. 17.5:1 IIRC.

So basicly any 7.3 priot to 2000 would be just fine.
