TQ is high due to converter flash. A locked converter wouldn't produce a TQ spike like that. With a locked converter typically a 7.3L will make 2x or less the TQ as it make HP.
I just did testing on the IDM mod as well. (I own a chassis dyno) This was with one of swamps IDM's. Peak gains were negligable (6-7TQ), but throttle response is awesome. Daily driving the trucks feels MUCH better. IDM mod is for precise injector control. Any power increase is simply a bonus. Also, on a dynojet Inertia drum you were probably NOT making full boost. I saw less than 20psi on the dyno, but see 24-25psi on the street in the same gear (3rd). In other words, your truck is making MORE power on the street than on the dyno. For instance: My 2001 with 3.08 gears put down 342/699 RW on the dyno. Same tune on my 2000 with stock 3.73 gears put down 291/546 RW. Boost comes on a lot slower due to the gears. |
