I got this truck about a year and half ago, it's very nice, runs fairly strong, but it has a few bugs. It seems to want to stay in overdrive too much, if I slow down in high gear or I try to accelerate in high gear it seems like it doesn't want to downshift like it should, so it will lug and blow tons of smoke, I usually will turn off the OD in these situations to force the downshift. I suspect it's being caused by the "custum tunes" the previous owner told me he had gotfor the truck. He also told me that everything he did was to increase fuel mileage, but every tune on the TS 6 position seems to do this. Also, this truck is heavily upgraded, and while it is quite powerful it's not what I would expect for the amount of upgrades it has, my previous F-250 was comparable with much less upgrades. Here is the list I was given when I got the truck:
It has a Air Dog fuel pump with filter and air separator.
90 cc injectors
High performance high pressure oil pump
AFE air intake
AFE intake manifold
ARP head studs
TS6 position chip custom tune.
BD turbo thruster II turbo.
MBRP 5 inch stainless exhaust.
6 auto meter gauges fully functional.
The tranny has over 6 thousand in it.
The motor was professionally built
Does it make sense that it would have 90cc injectors in this 2002 truck, when I search for them, I see them listed as being stock for mid 90s powerstrokes. I'd like to send my chip in for retunes but I want to make sure I know what injectors I have before I do, does 90cc injectors make sense, or does it sound like the seller was confused? Also, they say the motor was pro built but I'm not sure that means it has forged rods. Suggestions on where I should send the chip for new tunes?
