I dont think you will be able to run the stock intercooler pipes with the Banks IC. Check for sure though, I could be wrong. Im not a fan of banks either. Except for the IC. I need one to put on my OBS truck.
get a php hydra or ts 6 position and leave everything else alone. all that banks stuff will perform the same if not better than oem and they do have quality hardware just not software. well, they do but they dont sell it to average consumer...
id treat that stuff like stock stuff that needs upgraded eventually anyway.
if the gauges are separate from your tuner and or work without the banks software or ottomind or whatever the hell that thing is, then theres no reason to ditch em
if your exhaust is a 4" turbo back then theres nothing that needs changed unless its got a muffler and you want straight pipe or vice versa it has straight pipe and you want muffler
always gotta keep in mind that fixing what isnt broke might lead to newfound irritations you couldnt have even imagined before you decided to fix what wasnt broke
I sincerely appreciate the replies. I really have a hard time with aftermarket stuff. I am going to install a 4" turbo back stainless and have decided on a new 38r. Since pulling turbo, might as well keep the banks brake attached and just by a ebpv delete. Then i want the steering column gauge pod so the banks gauges can go with the pillar pod. I think the banks intercoller can stay since i will buy new boots also. One way ir another i am going to take it down to the block and start over. Water pump, t stat housing, plenum inserts, etc. i will look up prices tonight and then post a price for aaaaaalllllllll the parts as one lot. I guess i just need to find some tits i/c pipes. I dont like the aftermarket ones for sone reason. Why is the banks i/c better than oem besides the cast aluminum manifolds??
Everyone above is right. If you have the banks break you don't need a EBPV. It replaces it. The break is just a stronger EBPV and further down stream then the stock butterfly. Which is suppose to allow better flow then the stock butterfly. If you don't have the smart lock take out the break. You will fry you trans. If you take off the banks break you will have to get a new turbo down pipe if you want to keep the banks exhaust. If you don't want to keep it then just get a stock replacement. The break will bolt right up to the 38R or any other stock replacement turbo.
Pretty sure the Banks IC is larger, I know the IC pipes are, at least on a 6.0 setup.
As for the exhaust, the Banks monster exhaust is actually a pretty good exhaust, except for the price for a new kit. I bought the Banks exhaust when I first got my truck 6 or so years ago, when I didn't know any better and paid their high price. The kit was great and sounded good, I just ended up deciding to go a completely different route with mine a couple years down the road. I got rid of everything from the cat back and kept the DP and a few feet of the 4" pipe.
You definitely seem dead set on getting rid of all the stuff, which I can respect since its your truck, but I personally would keep all the Banks hard parts since they already came with the truck and are some good upgrades. The money you would spend on replacing them could be used to help you with the motor work you mentioned.
I guess I am just a little confused here... I completely understand wanting oem... To the point of gaskets, filters, coolers, etc. I also understand wanting to get rid of the Banks crap if you were going to go with quality upgrades. But to downgrade (aside from tuning... Ditch that junk) makes no sense to me.
Generally when we talk about avoiding AM parts its for things like a Doorman oil cooler on a 6.0/6.4.
Your exhaust is probably already stainless...
The intercooler piping and boots are definitely an upgrade...
The turbo is pretty much stock, I would actually swap it for a KC...
The IC is definitely worth keeping (meaning keeping the piping)...
I am definitely not a 7.3 guy, but if there isn't anything wrong under the hood I wouldn't start ripping things out for no reason.
I'm in North Fl, and may have more miles then you want to look at 230,000, but my truck is almost completely stack, and I'll trade out. Send me a PM, and we can see if we can make it work
I had the full banks setup on my truck when I got it. I kept all the hard parts. Exhaust, intercooler, intercooler pipes, that weird high flow outlet and the 1.0 exhaust housing. Sold off all the tuning and gauges. Banks parts are great. Just too much money.
The banks intercooler boots are a different size than stock boots. I believe stock is 3" and banks is 3.5"
Keep the banks hard parts. Buy a cts2, hydra, kc38r and a quality intake.
Just out of curiosity why did you buy it with all that stuff if you didn't want any of it? I would think a stock one would be easier to come across? And just FYI since it is manual trans the exhaust break won't hurt trans. What is the trim level. You may have a gold mind with it being manual if its a lariat truck with low miles. You could probably sell that for a decent price.
The powerpak system is $2850 and the banks brake is $1340. I dont know what this stuff is worth and am definitely replacing turbo to tip with 38r/ebpv delete/4" muffler delete. Soooo, that leaves the intercooler and pipes. Riddle me this, whats the difference between 3" oem and 3.5" banks pipes when the turbo output hole stays the same?
As for the 3.5 to 3" CAC pipes.....nothing as far as performance.
