cheapest intake would be the napa 6637 part number with a little chunk of 4" exhaust pipe, check that mod out in the 7.3 area of the tech section, TW and DP are the top 2 7.3L tuners around it seems, most reccomend you get gauges first (EGT and trans temp if you have an auto) just so you don't hurt the motor if you start to over endulge on the power, which can happen when you get a chip that almost doubles your HP and adds more then 50% additional torque.

I have a 2000 CC Dually 4x4 4.11 gears and a six speed I have a K&N cold air kit, 4" MBRP Turbo back and a Edge programmer. I get 15-16 on a mixed tank I need it to be much better maybe in the low 20mpg range, I don't pull that much any more and when I do it's just a 18 ft car hauler. What do you guys think?

Thanks

so what chip or programer do you guys suggest for mileage. its for a early 99 F450 5 speed with a 12ft work bed that wieghs about 10,000Lbs (whole truck) i straight piped it 4" and now it gets 11 mpg and the S&B intake should be in soon. it doesn't have a hitch and never will so towing isn't a factor. any ideas?

I currently have an F550 4x4 as a service truck. while realising it is a heavy unit, 6.41mpg is not doing it for me. Same as above posts, any suggestions.

I have already done the DIY intake, gutted the EBPV and have an exhaust on it.

my dually has 410's and my best has been 16mpg. i have an air intake and a small super chip stock exhaust ( soon to change),have to keep it under 2g rpms to get that, and my frends, brother and dad have the same answer. i have a buddy with a cummins truck and he put 354 gears in his and likes it better. but a gear change is a big job and probably not in you plans. just my input hope it helps.

actually, up until I started having all the engine problems with this unit, a gear change was in the plans.

I am a mobile heavy duty mechanic/welder and gear swaps in little stuff like these trucks isn't much of a big issue.

That said, a swap to 3.91 gears will keep you below 2k rpm at 60 mph, which is good, however, at this point, I am looking for another chassis to put my work deck on.
