Thumbs down fuel injector computer

Today, I got in my 2000 f350 7.3, drove about 1 mile and it started to lose power and felt like the fuel filter was clogged. I took it to a mechanic and he hooked it up to a computer that told him that the computer controlling the fuel flow through the injectors had just died, He mentioned that he had another ttruck get drpped off just a few minutes before mine with the same issue, its also a 2000. I was wondering if any one else had this issue, and if ford has perhaps planned a little extra income for todays date when they built it. The computer cost 750.00 plus labor. Ouch. By the way, I bought the last computer in the Portland Oregon metro area left, because they were 600+ on back order for other trucks, Fishy right. Please give me any thoughts you might have on it. Thanks
