MPG for 01 f350
what kind of MPG can i expect from this truck? its a 4x4 extended cab with 8' bed. Im currently seeing 12.3 mpg on the computer just want to know if thats abnormal low. I usually drive a mix of highway/city and am easy on the pedal.

that computer is whack... fill it up dirve and then fill it up again. miles/gal gives you the MPG you got.
Running empty I get 12 to 15 city and 14 to 18 freeway. I have a CCLB SRW with 3.73s |

wasn't sure if the computer was broken, it hasnt changed from 12.3mpg yet, but ive probably only put 150 miles on it since i bought it. Just wanted to see if the way ive been driving it and the replacement of the air filter (which was caked - worse ive ever seen) would make a significant difference.

I would put a DIY intake on there and a BTM or no muffler. that will help a tad.
reset the MPG o meter and see what it goes to. |

Dont even bother using the Lieometer....Er, MPGometer. Them things are notorious for being totally wrong. Hand calculation will give you an accurate MPG.
That is all. |

my '00 x-cab short bed 4x4 gets 15 city 23 highway, I average 18 mpg
hand calculated, tho my lie-o-meter seems to be farly acurate. |

i'm getting 16ish hand calcd. bone stock 01 f350 CCSB 3.73 w'285 tires.
highway and city are the same. the MPGometer has said 15.2 since last october - hasn't budged even with summer fuel. Dalton: what do you have for mods? 23mpg? |
|
|||
|
no mods yet, thats only highway, its a 6-speed to I think that might help
I can get 25 if I really try but thats not easy. |

i have been seeing about 14.5 city and 15.8 highway for a year. Last weekend I did the DIY intake and put 130 miles on the truck. My first 130 miles were mostly highway and seem to have shot up to 17.5 mpg. I'll credit that to the DIY intake. I'll keep watching it and hand calculating.
