Turbo noise difference between trucks

I have had a 2000 excursion 7.3.....stock

I have now bought a 2001 F-250....man this thing hauls.

I noticed right away the F-250 had an S&B Air intake kit as well as a predator stage II power module. You can really hear the turbo down low and hear the wastegate bleed off well......sounds great......still gets 17-18 MPG

I purchased another module to put on the excursion and I was expecting to hear the turbo louder but did not.

Could this just be the air intake by S&B....I can not find any other mods on the F-250

Also the excursion I can hear the warm up noise in the exhaust well on start up-Is this supossed to be happening this time of year?

The F-250 I never hear and it needs to warm up longer than the excursion. The 250 runs a little ruff until the water temp get up and it feels like when you start down the road for the first time it runs ruff for a secound still and you can feel something open up or something and then I know the truck is ready. After that no issues...it will fly.

What do I look for as differences.

the louder turbo noise is from the intake on the 250. check to see if the EBPV is still installed/or removed on the 250 for warm up time issues.

it's most likely the intake noise, but if you really love the turbo noise than you need to do a foil delete on both diesels

Most of the noise id from the intake. If you hear a "tea kettle" like sound when towing
that is called surge, and it will ruin the turbo. You will need a Wicked Wheel or an ATS ported housing.

Ditch the S&B (or K&N) as it lets way too much dirt through. If you dont believe it, just
go to their WEB page and research against stock filtering. The DIY (NAPA 6637) gives
stock filtering with great air-flow. This could save your engine.

If you want a real good punch of power, get a chip from Total diesel Performance or from DP. With any chip/programmer you must have gauges in order to know what
the engine is doing. You can cook your turbo before you know it.

Makes the turbo louder. The foil serves no other purpose than to quiet the turbo
