AFE air filter

I currently have an afe stage 2 system with the standard blue filter. I went on to the diesel manor website and they actually have some good information about the filters that I had never seen before. They say that the blue filter and the pro dry filters don't filter as well as an OEM paper filter. I was kind of surprised at this because I thought all the AFE filters filtered better than stock paper. Now I'm concerned because I've been driving around the last 15000 miles getting worse filtration than the stock filter? They even go as far as to say the blue filter is for street use only and not for off road. I went ahead and bought the pro guard 7 filter element for the better filtration. Of course none of this information is on the AFE website.

Personally I don't preffer oil type filters and I would only use a dry type element setup on my rigs. There is always the DIY napa 6377 filter setup or the Ford AIS system. The stock air box on the 7.3s is prone to cracking and letting dirt in. I have the AIS and like it but I might try the Napa 6377 setup to see if I get a milage increase.

Does anyone have info on the Napa filters

- what diameter tube does it clamp to
- how well do they filter..........in dusty conditions too?
- what are the dimensions of the filter.
- are they really meant to be an open filter element.

-pretty sure they clamp to a 3.5" piece of pvc. i have one, but i dont remember what the outlet size is

-they filter great, most members on here use/have used them without any problems

-they are meant to fit inside a round airbox, but they can be ran open element with no problems...just dont put them in a place where water can get to them
