Dark gray CPS vs recall light gray?

http://i14.ebayimg.com/03/i/000/b0/50/60f2_1.JPG

So there is a pic of the color of the dark gray one I got from the international dealer. I went in there and wanted to get the "c99" black one that is of course now MIA, and the guy says that the number I gave him (which was the full official 'black' PN from IH ending in c99) moves to the number he gave me, which is the dark gray. I don't have the PN off of it right here, but the diff was the one that came out of the truck had '35' "1876735c91"in it and the one I got from IH had '36' in it "1876736c91" The truck runs good, but differently. It is quieter, maybe has a touch less power in the upper RPM and misses less than my light gray one did, overall - better. That was the whole reason for the swap - because of my minor miss and, due to reading about the new recall gray one being the cause of missing and failed Cyl cont tests. <I failed on 8 when I had it done, can't go get it done again> What do you think is up here? Some say it could be a '94 - '96 CPS, and if so, is this a big problem? The depth into the block was identical, I matched them up before i just tossed it in there. WTF?
