will it hurt it????

ok I have a 2001 7.3, 140,000 miles ,mostly hiway, completely stock. I am now going to be pulling a 30' bumperpull all over Montana and Wyoming. I was looking at cutting the muffler off and welding in a straight pipe but I don't want to harm my rings due to less backpressure changing where my rings are seating at. I can't afford to lose any life off the engine right now but could use some cheap power and maybe help the exhaust side run a bit cooler. Anyone got some proffesional insight offer than "hell, I did it to mine and its fine"?? Thanks Brian

no, man you will be fine, maybe even gain 15 hp, and it will not do a thing to harm the engine. There are alot of us in here that run it straight pipe.

You will be fine. The turbo makes all the back pressure you could ever want. We are talking about a diesel here, not a gas rig. 4" turbo back exhaust can be had for less the $300 bucks. Do it once, do it right.
