To quote the Hastings tech, Gina Johnikins, (they make the Baldwin filters):

"The micron rating of the B50 is 2 and it is 98.75% efficient at this micron size.

Thanks for the inquiry,
Gina"

I've already checked into it, and I'll be using the Baldwin 0B1305 base with either the B50 or the B164 filter. The B164 is just the longer version of the B50.

I was quoted $429 (including a $100 discount) for an FS2500 bypass filter setup. I can filter to 2 microns at 98.75% efficiency for only about $60. And, the replacement filters will be about $6 instead of $22.

I can use the money, that would be otherwise wasted, for other mods, like gauges.

Ive heard that hastings makes the amsoil filters. I may be wrong on that! Its certainly worth looking into. If you decide to go this way, and you use oil analysis let us know your numbers! Thanks.

FS-2500 Video

Just checked out this video, it's a comparison of the fs, fleetguard and the amsoil filters, it was interesting. You might want to check it out.

Is there anyone/store on the internet that has in stock and sells Amsoil? Vendor?

I've looked on Ebay, but not much is available from what I searched.

You can order directly from Amsoil and just input your dealer's ID number on their site, or you can become a preferred customer (like me) for about $20.00 and get the dealer price and enter your own number. If you know a dealer you can get in with him as a sponsor of sorts whe you become a PC. It will ship direct from the warehouse to you.

The threads on the Baldwin mount/filters are 5/8"-18. I don't think that Hastings makes the Amsoil filters, but I'm not sure, either. Maybe Donelson. I've already ordered the mount, but I ordered the NAPA cross (Part #4755) from the local NAPA parts house. The parts man said that the Baldwin B50 crossed to a Napa Gold 1050 and that the Baldwin 164 (longer version) crossed to a Napa Gold 1704. He couldn't find anything on their efficiency, though. Just that, "since they cross reference that they should be just as efficient." I'm trying to check that out because I don't want to install a bypass filter for nothing! Also, the Baldwin filters have an oil flow restrictor needed to work as a bypass filter. I don't know if the NAPA filters do.
A local truck center said that they'd make up the lines for me. So, I'm on the way to having it all set up. I'm going to collect an oil sample tomorrow, when I do an oil/filter change. That should give me a good base number from which to judge this setup's value. Of course, I don't drive all that much, so it may take some time to make a comparison.

It's a single bypass filter system. I've read in one Powerstroke forum that some people had problems when they tried to relocate the full flow filter on the PSD. The UOA showed increased wear presumably because of lower oil pressure. I can't remember all of the details. I just made a mental note not to relocate the primary filter.
