Weird noise
99 F350 Powerstroke
While driving I get a weird noise kinda sounds like its really windy outside! Only happens while driving with throttle slightly pushed in, so little throttle that im not getting turbo whistle. When I let off throttle or press throttle more wind sound goes away? I have no power loss, its just annoying! Should I be concerned? and what is it? |

sounds almost Turbo related? perhaps exhaust back pressure valve related? a friend of mine just had to have his repaired. he said he "had a crack in the flange". that was last night and have not had time to ask more questions/get more details. he lost little power as well. have you pulled any codes from computer? does it do it cold and hot? is it a "wooshing" sound? loud sucking sound? |

You're right. It is weird I don't know. Maybe check your air charge tubes going to the intercooler. Maybe the clamps are loose. You would think you would be loosing power if that were the case though because you would be loosing turbo boost if they were leaking. If it were a gas engine, I would almost say that you have a vacuum leak. Some of the techs might chime in on this later. Anybody else have any ideas

Have you checked inside the air intake for any obstructions, or maybe a rip in the filter?
