oil pan problems

Ok so about a month ago i had a injector tip blow inhalf and take out a piston. When i pulled the head i also found a cracked piston so i decided to rebuild it. And for a while before it blew up i had a terrible oil leak coming from the hole in the oil pan for the dip stick tube. Today i got the rest of the pistons in and was cleaning the oil pan (that had about an inch of nasty build up on it.) and i was washing the inside out with the hose and i noticed the paint flaking in the inside bottom of the pan. Do i need to get a new pan? I scraped the hell out of it and am pretty sure that i got all the loose stuff off and out but what will keep the rest of it from flaking and clogging up my pick up. I understand that it would take alot to clog it. Dealers list price is 215.23 for a new pan. I get it at cost but my dealer is closed on saturdays. So what should i do?

Thanks Alex

if you're going thru the trouble of rebuilding the motor, yup, do a pan. heavy duty one that wont rust again.
