GRRRRRR fender badges

I have a problem I need some input

Tonight I took my f250 tailgate badge and removed the black with acetone and did the door badges a while back the door ones were off a 02 and the tailgate one was off a 02 also they stripped easy...here's my issue


My fender ones wont strip I left them soaking in the acetone for 30 mins and the black will not come off!!! I tried the wife's nail polish remover too.. nothing is working

did the early 99 have a different coating? can I use paint remover or will it melt the badges???

go to a body shop and get a adhesive remover. it looks like a big round eraser that goes on a drill.

do ya think that will work? I will have to try it ...

I have one of those that I used today to remove the adhesive off the side of the truck from the big black body moulding and the vent visors.. I dont know if I can get close enough to the letters with that in the cordless but I will definitely try it in the morning.. my body guy gave me one to use as I stripped the truck down today for them to save them time and me money..

but never thought about trying it for that

Aircraft Remover by Kleen Strip. They sell it at walmart in the auto/body section. $8.25 a can. Its strips 05-07 badges with 2 mins sit time and no scrubbing, or picking. Sprays on like contact cement so it sticks and wont run.

thats what i just did to mine just now, and it does work, my question is, do the tailgate and fender badges just pull off like the others or is there nuts behind them? thanks

Just alignment holes and the badges has plastic pins.

on the tailgate also?
i dont want to remove anything that will leave a hole.

The "ford" piece has pins and holes in the tailgate. the f250/350/whatever part should be standard stick on on the tailgate.


Maybe vice verse... I don't remember very well.

the fender badges, and tailgate have alignment pins.almost found out the hard way on the tailgate
