What makes lope

I have noticed on the big HP trucks they have a lope. I had a lope with the 10K. Is it big oil that causes lope. That was my favorite part of the 10K.

I may be completly wrong for diesels. I now for sure in a gas motor lope is related to the cam.

Thanks for the replies

I thought it was due to big oil cuz mine did when i had the 10k on.

I will just have to have my chip burned for it i guess.

It will have to wait till i get the adrenalin so i only have to send it in once.

A lope at idle is due to a cam profile lift duration lobe separation etc all make the difference. Im assuming youre talking about a muscle car idle when you say lope. Some guys try to immitate that with a loud exhaust but if you know the difference you can tell. besides most cars today run a pretty low idle but its a constant low RPM idle where older cars ran a higher idle.
I dont know much about diesels but I think you need to do some work to them to get that lope like that. Personally I dont see why you would do that to a diesel. Theire loud enough IMO.
