TRAILER WIRING QUESTION 7 PIN DESIGN

Ok basically the truck I bought has a brake controller on it already from hauling a 5th wheel camper. It was using a 6 plug but also had a 7 plug that wasnt hooked up. I need the 7 plug for trailer brakes and what not. Can I just connect all the same colored wires from that 6 pin? I noticed one wire wasnt getting used it was a black w/green stripe. On the diagram online it shows that black is power? Is this correct? This whole harness plugs into the factory harness with the adapter that was already there. I tested for aux power and that black wire off the truck side and didnt get anything. ALthough I didnt have the key on wasnt sure or not.

Thanks!

on super duty's the key needs to be on to get power to the plug. also, there is a fuse under the hood for the trailer auxiliary power.

I cant remember exactly cause it was so long ago but when we switch all our dump trucks over the newer style plug i dont think it was simply plug and play. I'll talk to the old mechanic who did them all and find out for sure.

That was all on 1 ton chevys. Cant think there'd be a big difference in that area though
